On the same day of his ninetieth birthday – 24 June 2023 -, the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of Rome and its province dedicates a conference to Giancarlo Capolei. The initiative will be held at the headquarters of the Order, the Casa dell’Architettura (piazza Manfredo Fanti, 47) starting at 9:30, and includes, in addition to the lectio magistralis of arch. Capolei, a speech by the architect Marco Maria Sambo, OAR Secretary and Editorial Director of AR Magazine, “Roman Architects of the ‘900“, a speech by the architect Anna Riciputo, “Radical Architecture in Rome in the 60s-70s” and a speech by the singer-songwriter and director Tito Schipa Jr., “The years of the Piper: the project and the society“. The conference will end with a round table, moderated by the architect Flavio Trinca (CTF OAR – Head of the “Landscape” training course) which will involve Tommaso Valle, Fabrizio Capolei, Anna Riciputo, Tito Schipa and Giancarlo Busiri Vici.
The conference is part of the initiatives for the centenary of the 1923 law which regulated the profession of architect, and represents a moment of debate, sharing and reflection on architecture – from the 1900s to today -, on the culture of design and on the evolution of the profession in Rome and in Italy.
