TORRE ASTURA

Client: Municipality of Nettuno
Location: Nettuno, Italy
Project Year: 1997
Program: environmental recovery of the coastal area south of Nettuno and the Marina di Torre Astura
Tasks: Design Development, Construction Documents, Construction supervision

A distinctive feature of the Torre Astura site is the extraordinary balance between natural elements and cultural evidence, which culminates in the ancient Roman villa with fish ponds, later a medieval fortress. In design terms, the study carried out was therefore extended to the entire coastal area south of Nettuno and to the Marina di Torre Astura and led to a complete project whose implementation would have represented an exceptional and unique example of its kind. During the execution phase, a series of problems blocked the execution of the environmental recovery inland works and the creation of a naturalistic-archaeological park. Instead, the restoration of the Torre Astura was completed, following the desire to protect, present and transmit the monument to the future, not only in terms of its physical presence, but also its image, respecting its authenticity.
