Tortuga Island is located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, amidst Higuerote, Puerto la Cruz and Margarita Island, under the Venezuelan government. It belongs to the Federal Dependencies of Venezuela, owning 41.85% of the total surface, with a similar extension to Aruba’s Island. Over 156 km2, La Tortuga comprises numerous cays, islets and three smaller islands: Cayo Herradura and the Tortuguillos (Nord and South). The Masterplan of the island will have to identify all those Activities and Services fundamental for the island to become a tourist destination; these functions are independent from the proposed project solution but constitute the "INVARIANTS" which will be identified within the island in the most appropriate manner from the urban/architectural/environmental and functional point of view: • Tourist Accommodation Unit (types and numbers according to the indications of the Market Analysis) • Residential Unit for Permanent and Seasonal Workers (housing and ranches) • Port of Service and Interporto • Waterfront • Marina • Airport • Water Desalination and Distribution Plant • Purification, Recovery and Reuse of Purified Water Plant • Electricity Generation and Distribution Plant • Waste Disposal and/or Storage Plant • Road System for Freight and Passenger Transport • Protection and Conservation Units • Golf project: ITALCONSULT STUDIO ALTIERI S.p.a. 3C+T CAPOLEI CAVALLI ARCHITETTI UNIFE_ PROF.
